Kirsten Dunst balanced a structured Valentino haute couture look with a pair of Aquazzura’s Alex Sandal 85 heels at the 79th BAFTA Film Awards on Sunday at London’s Royal Festival Hall, where her husband Jesse Plemons was nominated for Leading Actor for “Bugonia.”

Her shoes brought the lightest touch in the look. Dunst wore Aquazzura’s Alex Sandal 85 in black, a satin slingback style built on an 85mm stiletto heel with slim crossover straps at the toe and a narrow strap that wrapped behind the heel with a small buckle fastening at the side. The open-toe silhouette left her black pedicure visible and kept most of the foot bare. Aquazzura currently lists the $895 sandal within its Alex Rivière x Aquazzura edit as part of a capsule that began for resort 2025 and continued into resort 2026 before moving into the brand’s broader lineup.

Dunst matched the barely there sandal with Valentino spring 2026 couture look 37: a full-length black skirt with a back slit and a cream V-neck bodice, cinched with a wide black waistband, topped by a cropped pink moiré jacket with rounded, sculpted shoulders and exaggerated sleeves. She finished the outfit with a small black Valentino Devain napa shoulder bag and diamond jewelry. The mix continued a recent Valentino streak for the “Civil War” and “Roofman” star; in late January, she attended the label’s haute couture show in Paris in a spring 2026 look anchored by black snake-embellished mules from the ready-to-wear collection.

For Aquazzura, the Alex sandal arrives as the brand continues to lean on refined, minimal silhouettes. The company recently reintroduced its Love Affair pump in a mesh upper, a pointed-toe style that has circulated on red carpets in iterations worn by Amal Clooney, Emma Stone, Suki Waterhouse and other names across its suede, satin and mesh versions. Similar fine-strap heels have been all over recent carpets, from Jennifer Aniston’s custom ultra-minimal Jimmy Choo sandals at a Variety x “The Morning Show” event in late 2025 to Mia Goth’s Femme LA pair at the Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards 2026 and Teyana Taylor’s ruby red Tom Ford ankle-strap sandals at a Las Vegas engagement earlier this year.
