Apple plans to expand its AirPods Pro lineup this year, even though AirPods Pro 3 launched less than six months ago. Instead of releasing AirPods Pro 4, Apple is expected to introduce a higher-end version of the current model. This new version would sit above the standard AirPods Pro 3 and bring advanced features focused on artificial intelligence and spatial awareness.

The idea is similar to how Apple sells AirPods 4 in two versions, one with active noise cancellation and one without it. In this case, Apple would keep the regular AirPods Pro 3 at its current price while adding a premium version with new hardware. That approach allows Apple to target users who want more advanced features without changing the base model.

According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the new AirPods Pro will include tiny infrared cameras that can see the surrounding environment. He says these cameras will support air gesture controls and improve how the earbuds interact with Vision Pro. This setup would create a more immersive audio experience when users wear both devices together.

An Apple leaker known as Kosutami also claims that the infrared cameras will connect the earbuds with Apple Intelligence. Reports suggest that Visual Intelligence will play a central role, allowing the AirPods Pro to process environmental data and support Apple’s broader wearable AI plans.

Expected Models and Pricing

If the rumors are accurate, Apple will offer two AirPods Pro 3 options:

AirPods Pro 3: $249

AirPods Pro 3 with Cameras: Estimated $299 to $349 or higher

Apple has never sold two AirPods Pro models at the same time, but the AirPods 4 strategy shows that the company is open to tiered pricing.

Release Timeline

Apple usually announces new AirPods in September alongside iPhone updates. Based on past launches, a September or October release appears most likely for the camera equipped AirPods Pro with Apple Intelligence.
