Star of The Evil Dead franchise Bruce Campbell announced Monday that he is battling a “treatable” but “not curable” form of cancer.

Campbell did not reveal the type of cancer he is battling, but said that the diagnosis was a shock.

“My plan is to get as well as I possibly can over the summer so that I can tour with my new movie “Ernie & Emma” this fall,” Campbell wrote on social media.

Campbell said that he has canceled appearances at several conventions this summer following the diagnosis, adding that “treatment needs and professional obligations don’t always go hand-in-hand.”

The actor did not share the prognosis of his disease, but offered some hope.

“I have great support, so I expect to be around a while,” he wrote. “As always, you’re the greatest fans in the world and I hope to see you soon!”
