American Express has announced plans to construct a new global headquarters at 2 World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan. Located at 200 Greenwich Street, the headquarters has been designed by Foster + Partners, with American Express being the sole owner and occupant of the tower. The firm also recently completed a new headquarters for JPMorganChase in the city.

The project will deliver almost two million square feet of office space across 55 floors, with capacity for up to 10,000 employees. The building is intended to support flexible workplace environments, with the team saying the design’s focus rested on collaboration, innovation, and employee well-being.

The tower will include more than an acre of outdoor space, including terraces and gardens. The scheme’s energy systems will be fully electric. Construction is expected to begin in spring 2026 with completion in 2031.
