The U.S. and Israel began attacking Iranian cities like Tehran, Minab, and Lamerd with missile strikes on Saturday. The attacks killed hundreds, including the country’s longtime supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. President Donald Trump announced that the military campaign would be called “Operation Epic Fury,” and added that “lives of courageous American heroes may be lost, and we may have casualties.”
Israel also launched attacks in Lebanon, and Iran retaliated with drone and missile strikes in Israel, Kuwait, Bahrain, and other countries in the region.
The United Arab Emirates reported three deaths and at least 68 injuries as hundreds of drones and missiles reportedly entered the country’s airspace during the conflict.
On Monday, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Consular Affairs Mora Namdar urged Americans to leave a number of countries in the Middle East due to “serious safety risks.” The areas listed included Bahrain, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Israel, the West Bank, Gaza, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, UAE, and Yemen.
