Nikola Vučević will be reevaluated in 3-4 weeks after fracturing his right ring finger on Friday.

The Celtics regained Jayson Tatum on Friday, but have lost Nikola Vučević for an extended stretch.

A trade deadline acquisition from the Bulls, Vučević played only 2 minutes against the Mavericks on Friday night before exiting with a hand injury. Midway through the game, the Celtics updated Vučević to “OUT” with a right ring finger fracture.

The Celtics announced that the 6-foot-9 center underwent surgery on his right ring finger on Saturday to stabilize a fracture and will miss the next 3-4 weeks as he recovers.

A career 17.1 ppg scorer with a soft shooting touch from outside, Vučević has posted 10.4 points and 7.2 rebounds in 21.7 minutes across 12 games for the Celtics. Boston sits at second in the Eastern Conference with a 42-21 record and has 19 games remaining in its schedule following Friday night’s win over the Mavericks.
