Garvy Beh shares how he keeps a steady hand between crossing continents, healthcare work and playing competitive polo

“I think the advantage of being a Type A person is you basically plan everything ahead. It gives you more peace of mind when travelling when everything we do is on time,” says Garvy Beh. He speaks with the calm certainty of someone who is accustomed to operating at full throttle. The 32-year-old jet-sets almost every month — roughly half for business, half for polo. Still, there is no trace of frenzy about him. “I will plan a detailed itinerary from day to night — where we are staying, where we are going to eat.” This diligence is what makes Beh’s numerous journeys feel seamless, rather than stressful. It is also why the tools he travels with must match that same precision — structured, reliable and designed to perform without fuss. By profession, he is a heavyweight in healthcare. As director of BP Healthcare, he oversees not only the brick-and-mortar facilities but also a lesser-known, yet critical arm of the business – medical waste incineration. The group operates a plant in Perak that currently processes five tonnes of waste daily for public and private hospitals, with plans to quadruple capacity in the coming years. Upgrades for specialist centres in Batu Kawan, Teluk Intan, Alor Setar and Butterworth are also on the horizon.

Beyond this, Beh is also founder and CEO of Doctor2U, an integrated healthcare app providing on-demand medical services across Malaysia and Singapore. Efficiency and access are central to its mission – principles that echo his personal philosophy. In many ways, travel sharpens this conviction.

“Every time I travel for work, I observe other hospitals or healthcare operators. Some are better than us, some are not,” he says candidly. “The ones that are better, those are the ones we learn from. I always look at how we can improve what we currently have.”

Technology plays a defining role in this evolution. With diagnostics being the main focus of BP Healthcare, the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) in pre-analysing X-rays has helped radiologists review cases by flagging potential issues. Thus, speed and precision improve.

Engineered for modern movement

For those who operate across borders and disciplines, performance must be seamless. The latest evolution — TUMI Alpha — refines TUMI’s most recognisable icon with updated silhouettes, quieter hardware and enhanced internal organisation.

Crafted from signature ballistic nylon and designed with intuitive compartments, the collection supports a lifestyle that extends beyond work or travel alone. It transitions effortlessly from airport terminals to boardrooms, open fields and city streets.

New colourways expand its appeal beyond traditional business codes, while integrated security details offer reassurance in motion. Personalisation services, complimentary shipping and comprehensive warranty support reinforce the long-term confidence that defines the TUMI ownership experience.

TUMI Alpha is not simply built to endure. It is built to accompany progress.

“It doesn’t replace the doctor,” Beh clarifies. “It assists them. Doctors are human; AI helps them become more accurate.”

For all his business intensity, polo remains a parallel arena of ambition. Born into a polo-playing family, Beh began riding at two and picked up a mallet at seven. Today, he plays professionally as defence. The No 4 position is tasked with protecting the goal and setting up attacking plays, a role that mirrors Beh’s leadership style.

“You cannot run a business alone. You need a strong team of talented, reliable and hardworking people. Polo is the same.”

Competitions and tournaments have taken him from Argentina to England, France, Mongolia and, most recently, the Snow Polo World Cup in Kitzbühel and St Moritz, where his team placed runner-up.

Snow polo, he notes, is a different beast — conditions are colder and more punishing. “Out of seven days, I fell five times,” he laughs.

The horses need to acclimatise and require special studded shoes to grip the slippery surface. For many of the animals, the environment is new, making it even more of a challenge. Even so, he returns to it year after year. “I like to win,” Beh admits. “If I lose, I have a hard time sleeping. I’ll continuously think about what I should have done better.”

With both avenues being family affairs, balancing polo and business is less a juggling act and more an overlap. Packing, however, differs dramatically. Work trips require streamlined tailoring. When it comes to polo, there are dedicated bags for equipment, sticks and layers for freezing climates. His luggage line-up can quickly grow. For everything outside of his polo gear, he relies on something streamlined and versatile.

Beh’s carry-on must be protective and secure — preferably with an integrated locking system. But, it must also look good. “It’s always with me.” He needs a bag that transitions as fluidly as he does — from hospital boardrooms to airport lounges, and occasionally straight to the field.

Favouring clean lines and sleek finishes, a brand that speaks most to his taste is Tumi. “I have been using their bags for the past 15 years. Visually and functionally, it ticks a lot of my boxes.” For someone who measures performance in both minutes and millimetres, the TUMI Alpha collection aligns with his expectations — engineered, disciplined and built to endure constant motion.

The latest Alpha iteration, he says, surprised him. “I didn’t expect I could carry so much more.”

Specifically, the Tumi Brief Pack has been his latest go-to, not only because of how much it can hold, but also due to the feeling it exudes. The structured and lightweight accessory is practical, yet sleek enough to complement his tailored personal style. Its construction and purposeful compartments mirror his own methodical approach — everything has its place, and everything is ready when needed.

He playfully calls it “dangerous” because the number of compartments and pockets allow him to organise more than he realises. “You end up putting more things inside, but it does not feel like it,” he laughs. The new products boast improved and quieter hardware. “This way, I get to carry more essentials with me.” These include his non-negotiables, of course — hair gel, wax, spray and facial serums. “Aesthetics are important,” he says simply. Beyond capacity, it is the quiet confidence of the design that resonates — a bag that does not demand attention, yet signals intention.

Whether he is studying hospital systems in Southeast Asia, competing on frozen polo fields or mapping out his next itinerary, each trip is purposeful for the go-getter. He plans to have an English summer playing polo with the family — potentially, in the upcoming Queen’s Cup. Or he might find himself in Tokyo, one of his favourite cities. Most importantly, no matter where he goes, Beh will always make ensure that he is well-packed, and well-dressed.

And with TUMI Alpha by his side, that preparation feels less like packing — and more like strategy.
