A new Joker is set to make his debut as a twisted version of Batman. DC Comics’ Immortal Legend Batman reimagines the Dark Knight and his comic book lore in the Tokusatsu genre. A mix of futuristic costumes, energy attacks, elaborate combat moves, and a clash between technology and magic all evoke iconic franchises like Power Rangers and Kamen Rider.
Like all other Elseworlds timelines, Immortal Legend Batman features iconic DC characters, costumes, and concepts most fans can easily recognize. However, several twists shake up the formula in this continuity. Remarkably, Immortal Legend Batman’s biggest change to Gotham lore may be the way it presents its antagonists. Just kicking off its story, Immortal Legend Batman pits Batman against Bruce Wayne.

The Immortal Legend Batman’s hunt returns him to Gotham…the sprawling, planetwide city he used to call home. While looking for the next shadow monster, he’ll have to reconcile with the civilian life he left behind. But to his surprise, it’s almost like Bruce Wayne has never left. Enlisting the help of Barbara Gordon, Batman will have to uncover if this is the work of the Shadows or if someone is just playing a sick…joke.
Little in Immortal Legend Batman is what it seems, and this Elseworlds universe’s version of the Joker won’t appear sporting his classic look, at least at first.

Immortal Legend Batman Has To Face Another Dark Mirror In The Form Of Joker
Wearing the Batman suit, Bruce Wayne tracks down and confronts the man who tries to steal his identity, thus unveiling Immortal Legend Batman’s take on Two-Face. One of Batman’s previous battles led to the apparent death of a cryogenicist who seems to be Mister Freeze. Meanwhile, Thomas Elliot a.k.a. Hush aims to take the Batman mantle from Bruce Wayne.
Taking into account the wild reinventions of these villains, it’s tough to predict exactly what Immortal Legend Batman’s Joker has in store. Immortal Batman #5’s description suggests famous trillionaire Bruce Wayne has also been supplanted in Gotham. However, the Joker may not be just another Shadow. This new version of the Joker may prove he’s even more dangerous than the rest of the Shadows by toying with Bruce Wayne’s personal life.
Thomas Elliot is better known as Bruce Wayne’s evil parallel in DC’s prime continuity. Immortal Legend Batman #1 teases Thomas Elliot as the main contender for the Batman mantle. Since Immortal Legend #5 teases a Gotham that feels as though “Bruce Wayne never left,” the Joker might be working with Elliot to take down the Dark Knight and ruin Bruce Wayne’s life.

Immortal Legend Batman’s Joker is shrouded in mystery, but he isn’t the only villain Batman is confirmed to fight in this Elseworlds universe. Batman is set to encounter Bane in issue #2, the Riddler in #3, and Poison Ivy in #4 ahead of his face-off with the Joker in Immortal Legend Batman #5. Along the way, the Dark Knight will likely cross paths with new versions of other classic villains.
