Formulations are now tailored to specific pre‑conception and pregnancy needs but also to postpartum and early childhood development. This shift positions the postpartum period as an essential fourth trimester, requiring targeted nutrition to replenish maternal nutrient stores while providing downstream benefits to the infant.
New launches and extended lines are being designed around clearly defined physiological outcomes along the full reproductive and early-life continuum. These range from fetal brain and bone development to maternal recovery, vaginal health, immune support and early digestive maturation. To support adherance, brands are also innovating delivery formats, prioritizing convenience and ease of use for consumers navigating nausea, pill fatigue, low energy levels and demanding daily routines.
Underlying much of this product development is the recognition of the foundational role of the gut and microbiome, with a growing emphasis on probiotics, prebiotics and human milk oligosaccharides to support overall resilience whether for maternal repair or baby building.
Below a look at some of the latest products conceived for mother—and in some cases fathers, too—and their offspring.
O Positiv Health’s PREGGO Prenatal + Probiotic
O Positiv launched its PREGGO Prenatal + Probiotic, formulated to support both fetal development and maternal wellness from preconception through postpartum.
The daily supplement combines essential nutrients like methylfolate, choline, omegas and iron to support baby brain, bone and overall fetal development, probiotics for gut and vaginal microbiome balance and bowel regularity, as well as ginger and vitamin B6 to help relieve occasional morning sickness and nausea.
“I recommend these nutrients to every expecting mom—omegas, folate, and probiotics to support baby’s development, mom’s microbiome, and ease common pregnancy symptoms like nausea and constipation,” said Dr. Kendra Segura, OBGYN, MD, MPH, FACOG, from O Positiv’s Medical Advisory Board.
“What I love about PREGGO Prenatal + Probiotic is that it bridges the gap between what most prenatals provide and what pregnant people actually need. It’s comprehensive, science-backed, and designed with real pregnancy in mind.”
Mengniu and advanced infant formula
In February, dairy giant Mengniu announced significant advancements in its infant formula portfolio. Following the approval of the human milk oligosaccharide (HMO) 3’-SL in China, the company has completed a systematic layout of three key HMO molecules, including 2’-FL and LNnT.
This development is part of a broader push into functional dairy. Mengniu’s formula brand, Reeborne, recently introduced “Reeborne Affinity,” which uses maternal MLCT technology to improve fat metabolism and nutrient absorption, reportedly doubling absorption rates and increasing DHA content by 48% .
Mengniu was one of the companies to secure recent approval from the government to use HMO 3’-SL in infant formula. (NutraIngredients coverage)Ritual’s Natalbiotic
Ritual introduced Natalbiotic to support both digestive and vaginal health in mother and immune health in baby. The biotic set includes the L. rhamnosus HN001 and B. lactic HN019 from Fonterra, PreforPro from Deerland and the UREX probiotic blend from Christian Hansen (L. rhamnosus GR-1 and L. reuteri RC-14).
Ingredients are delivered in micro tablets with nested inner capsule release technology, designed to maintain the integrity of prebiotics and probiotics, while enhancing absorption and efficiency.
This product launched in October amid Ritual’s broader 2025 retail expansion into Walmart and Ulta.
Bayer enters prenatal nutrition
Bayer’s Consumer Health Division launched into the prenatal nutrition segment in India under its multivitamin brand with the Supradyn Mom’s (iron, folic acid, vitamin B6, B12, copper and zinc) and Supradyn Naturals Calcium+(calcium, vitamin D2, and magnesium).
Introduced during National Nutrition Week in September 2025, the range is designed to tackle widespread nutritional deficiencies faced by women during preconception, pregnancy and lactation.
“India is at a pivotal point in its development journey,” said Sandeep Verma, cluster head of South Asia at Bayer Consumer Health. “Ensuring the health of mothers and future generations is essential to our nation’s progress. With Supradyn’s new prenatal range, Bayer reaffirms its commitment to providing affordable, science-proven solutions that empower women to take charge of their health and give their children the best possible start in life.”
The products are sold across the country’s chemist outlets and online pharmacies, as well as at metros and in Tier 1 and 2 towns.
Bayer also announced that it had invested €5 million to upgrade its Cimanggis site in Indonesia to produce Multiple Micronutrient Supplements (MMS) under the Elevit brand. These tablets, formulated according to UN and WHO standards, contain 15 essential vitamins and minerals designed to reduce stunting and support pregnant women in emerging markets.
Bayer recently invested in upgrades focused on the production line for Multiple Micronutrient Supplement (MMS), designed to meet the needs of pregnant women. (NutraIngredients coverage)Needed’s Prenatal Multi Essentials
Needed introduced a reformulated Prenatal Multi Essential, which it says provides eight times more nutrition than leading brands in a three-capsule daily dose containing 22 ingredients.
These include folate as Optifolin+ (Methylfolate + Choline) for neural tube formation and healthy methylation, 200 mg VitaCholine for baby’s brain and nervous system development, 150 mcg active B12 (two forms) for energy metabolism, 40 mg active B6 for pregnancy nausea and fetal development and 100 mcg vitamin D3 for immune health of mother and baby, as well as vitamins A, C, E, B2, B3, K2 (K2 Vital), biotin, pantothenic acid, iodine, Albion magnesium, zinc, copper, manganese and molybdenum, selenium and chromium.
The brand says its advanced formulation is based on clinical data rather than what it calls outdated Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDAs) that have governed prenatal nutrition for over 80 years.
Munchkin’s infant formula
Baby lifestyle brand Munchkin entered the U.S. market with a formula designed with beta-palmitate to mimic mature breast milk. The formula includes essential prebiotics, proteins and nutrients that support immune development, brain growth and digestive health.
“Expanding into infant formula is a meaningful milestone for our company and a natural extension of our mission to support parents through every stage of early life,” Steven Dunn, founder and CEO of Munchkin’s parent company WHY Brands Inc., said following the February launch.
“Munchkin Infant Formula represents years of listening to families and working with doctors and scientists to create something truly different, including the only cow’s milk formula in the US with beta-palmitate, a type of fat found in mature breastmilk, to support digestion and nutrient absorption.”
Ingredients include alpha-Lactalbumin, lactoferrin, beta-palmitate, lutein, DHA (hexane-free), ARA, nucleotides, taurine, L-carnitine and beta-carotene.
Tiny Health’s Gut Maturation Index
Tiny Health introduced its Gut Maturation Index, an advanced machine learning tool that predicts a child’s gut microbiome age with a one-to-two-month accuracy up to age three. It is designed to enable parents to compare their child’s gut health to age-specific benchmarks and act if gut development is accelerated or delayed—factors that may be related to chronic conditions such as eczema, allergies, obesity and Type 1 diabetes.
“The ability to predict a child’s microbiome age and map it to their true age is a groundbreaking advancement,” Cheryl Sew Hoy, CEO of Tiny Health, said following the launch. “This innovation offers a new way to support gut development during a formative stage in a child’s life. “
The index incorporates microbial diversity, beneficial bacteria and bacterial gene profiles powered by Tiny Health’s proprietary and extensive database of pregnancy and baby gut microbiome samples. Families then receive a personalized action plan, helping them correct imbalances and optimize their child’s gut health during key developmental stages.
Founded in 2022, the company was the first microbiome platform to address infant gut imbalances and help parents track their child’s microbiome maturation during the critical first 1,000 days of life. (NutraIngredients coverage)WeNatal 3-in-1 Protein+
Fertility and prenatal supplement brand launched Protein+ for both moms and dads to be. It is available in two targeted formulations: a complete prenatal multivitamin, grass-fed whey protein and collagen blend for her and a men’s preconception multivitamin, grass-fed whey protein and collagen blend for him.
The brand noted that the launch responds to the lack of macronutrients in traditional prenatal vitamins—such as protein and collagen, both of which are crucial for maintaining metabolic health, promoting tissue repair and regulating hormones.
“Wellness doesn’t have to be overwhelming,” said Dr. Demeri, ND, IFMCP, WeNatal’s medical advisor. “We created WeNatal Protein + to make daily nourishment simple and effective, combining essential nutrients, protein and collagen in one scoop so women and men can stay consistent and feel the results.”
WeNatal Protein + is third-party tested and verified to stay below California Prop 65 thresholds for heavy metals.

“These innovations reflect our unwavering commitment to science-led solutions and our strategic focus on women’s health, a key growth platform for Nestlé,” said Isabelle Bureau-Franz, Head of R&D for Nutrition at Nestlé.
“These launches are the result of more than a decade of rigorous research through public-private partnerships, demonstrating how tailored nutrition can transform health outcomes for mothers and babies and deliver measurable benefits that last well beyond birth.”
The new products were developed based on the findings of the Nutritional Intervention Preconception and During Pregnancy to Maintain Healthy Glucose Metabolism and Offspring Health trial, involving 1,729 women across Singapore, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.
