EXCLUSIVE: Netflix has set three more for roles in Bad Day, the streamer’s latest action comedy starring Cameron Diaz. The newcomers are Rhenzy Feliz (The Penguin), Jessica Belkin (Elle), and Emma Pearson (The Artist).

Under the direction of Jury Duty‘s Jake Szymanski, the film is about a single mom fighting to keep one little promise to her daughter on the absolute worst day of her life. As announced yesterday, Ed O’Neill, Danielle Brooks and John Higgins will also appear in supporting roles.

Solon wrote the script on spec and developed it with Beau Bauman, her collaborator on the films Let It Snow and Office Christmas Party, who’s set to produce for Good One Productions. Solon and Mark Moran are exec producing. The project reunites Bauman and Diaz following their work on the Netflix action comedy Back in Action, starring Diaz and Jamie Foxx, which was an instant hit for the streamer, taking #6 on the Most Popular List after spending seven weeks on the Global Top 10 Movies List (English). That film was the highest ranked original on Nielsen’s Streaming Charts for the first half of 2025, with 5.264B minutes viewed.

Production on Bad Day is set to take place on the East Coast this fall.

Earning lots of critical praise for his recent breakout role as Victor Aguilar in HBO’s The Penguin, Feliz’s earlier credits included George Clooney’s The Tender Bar, Encanto, and Hulu’s Casual. Part of the cast of How to Rob a Bank, David Leitch’s forthcoming crime thriller for Amazon MGM, he’ll next be seen in Kelly Reichardt’s The Mastermind, which Mubi releases October 17. He is repped by CAA, Neon Kite, and Goodman, Genow, Schenkman.

Recently seen on Netflix’s The Hunting Wives, Belkin’s resume also includes roles in the likes of The Orville, Speechless, and American Horror Story. Repped by Paradigm, Atlas Artists, Schuller Talent, and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller, she’ll soon be seen starring in Prime Video’s Legally Blonde prequel series, Elle.

Next to appear in the murder mystery series The Artist, opposite Mandy Patinkin, Janet McTeer, Danny Huston, Patti Lupone and more, Pearson is repped by Osbrink Talent Agency and Serendepity Entertainment.
