WASHINGTON, D.C. – Icyss Storm’s career-high 18 points led four Seahawks in double digits, but UNCW fell in the second round of the Credit Union 1 CAA Women’s Basketball Championship, 72-61, to Monmouth on Thursday.
The Seahawks concluded their season with a record of 7-24. Monmouth, meanwhile, goes to 20-10 and advances to the quarterfinals on Friday.
Monmouth used a 23-point third quarter to establish a 54-47 lead going into the final quarter.
Storm finished the contest 7-for-16 from the field, including 2-of-4 from behind the three-point line, and she converted both free throw attempts. She also matched her career-high with five assists.
Joining Storm in double figures were Mary Ferrito with 12 and Corey McLaughlin and Kylah Silver with 10 apiece.
Monmouth too landed four in double figures, led by GiGi Gamble’s team-high 17 points.
The Hawks converted 23 turnovers into 22 points and held a 42-20 advantage in scoring in the paint.
