At the 2026 Oscars looks from the spring 2026 couture collections, presented in January, took a star turn. Some made seamless transitions from the catwalk to the red carpet (see Anne Hathaway, Kerry Condon, Kristen Wiig, Odessa A’zion. In other cases designers further developed ideas and techniques they used on the runway to make new pieces (see Nicole Kidman and Kate Hudson, among others). Like filmmakers, couturiers are story tellers, and it’s interesting to see how they can spin “plot lines” in different directions.
The craze for vintage deep cuts seems to have slowed down a bit, although Miyako Bellizzi wore a 1999 John Galliano for Christian Dior and Damson Idris’s Prada get-up seems to have been inspired by the brand’s lauded 2012 Villains collection.
