A new pharmacy is set to open in the Woottons on Monday, in the premises formerly occupied by Jhoots Pharmacy.

Pharmacist Endrit Basha, who is at the helm of Wootton Pharmacy in South Wootton, told the Lynn News that it will offer a full range of NHS services, with the aim of going “beyond traditional pharmacy care” with home delivery and more.

It comes after Jhoots Pharmacy was forced to close in September last year, as employees had been left out of pocket for months.

At the time, a whistleblower told the Lynn News the situation “became impossible” at the branch due to missed wages, lack of stock and no pharmacist.

The new, independent Wootton Pharmacy, which can be found at Priory Court on St Augustine’s Way, has a new team of four, including Mr Basha.

It will offer the Pharmacy First consultation service, blood pressure checks, and a contraceptive service, alongside private services such as weight management.

Mr Basha said that opening his first pharmacy was a “proud and deeply meaningful milestone” in his career.

“I have been a qualified pharmacist for six years, having worked within the pharmacy sector since the age of 17, and throughout that time I have developed a strong commitment to delivering accessible, patient-centred care,” he said.

“As an independent prescriber, I am particularly passionate about expanding clinical services within the community and helping to ease pressure on local GP services by offering timely, convenient care.

“It is incredibly rewarding to be bringing a pharmacy back into such a supportive and welcoming community, and the enthusiasm shown so far has been truly encouraging.”

The 29-year-old added: “Our goal is to go beyond traditional pharmacy care by introducing services like free home delivery for those who are housebound, and a weekly blister pack service to support patients with complex medication regimes or dexterity challenges.

“Ultimately, this pharmacy represents my dedication to improving access to healthcare and making a positive, lasting impact within the community.”

Wootton Pharmacy, which will be working in partnership with Allied Pharmacy, will be open between 9am and 6pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 1pm on Saturdays.

Customers and patients can pop in during opening hours or call 01553 672989 to find out more or access services.
