Warner Bros. and DC have unveiled a new trailer for Supergirl, previewing the titular superhero’s (Milly Alcock) battles with Krem of the Yellow Hills (Matthias Schoenaerts) and more.
The trailer opens with a conversation between Superman (David Corenswet) and Supergirl, in which he tries to guide her through an emotionally difficult and isolating time.
“Hey, I was just touching base to see when you think you might be coming back,” he says. “You know, I’m just worried that you’re not going to find your stride here if you keep going off world all the time, Kara. I’m worried you’re not going to find your people.”
Supergirl responds, “Yeah, well, that’s the thing, Clark. I have no people,” later noting that “home is wherever” her beloved Krypto the Superdog is.
That is, until Krypto is poisoned by the henchmen of villain Krem of the Yellow Hills, with only three days to save him.
Elsewhere in the trailer, we get a new look at Jason Momoa‘s antihero Lobo, and Supergirl offers guidance to Ruthye Marye Knoll (Eve Ridley), a young woman whose father was killed by Krem and company, noting that “revenge won’t take your pain away.”
Which isn’t to say that she’ll be letting him commit his evil acts without a fight.
Coming on the heels of James Gunn’s Superman, which grossed over $618M worldwide last summer, Supergirl opens in theaters and IMAX across North America on June 26. DC Studios’ latest was directed by Craig Gillespie from a screenplay by Ana Nogueira. Others in the cast include David Krumholtz and Emily Beecham.
DC Studios heads Peter Safran and Gunn produced, with Nigel Gostelow, Chantal Nong Vo and Lars P. Winther exec producing. Check out the trailer above.
