One of the most sparkling moments of the week took place on Monday, when the Princess of Monaco made a glittering appearance at the Ballon d’Or ceremony in Paris.

Princess Charlene arrived at the Théâtre du Châtelet in central Paris on Monday for the awards ceremony, which recognizes remarkable achievements by athletes playing the sport of football (or soccer, for many of my fellow North Americans) around the world.
Charlene was on stage during the ceremony to present the Sócrates Award, which honors players and organizations who use their influence to make positive impacts off the field. The winner of this year’s award was the Xana Foundation, which was founded to offer support to children dealing with serious illnesses and to their families. The foundation was named for Xana, the youngest daughter of Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique, who died of bone cancer in 2019.

For the award ceremony, Princess Charlene wore a stark, tailored white gown. UFO No More tells us that the dress was made by the couturier Elie Saab, a particularly popular designer with European royals.

Charlene kept her jewelry accessories minimal but impactful. The spotlight jewels were her diamond statement earrings, which are modern pieces set with pear-shaped diamonds in a curling half-circle design.

I don’t believe we know the designer of the earrings. The shape of the earrings has been a popular design motif used by Chopard in recent years, but the pear-shaped stones are reminiscent of jewels made by Graff. Here’s hoping we get more information on these soon.

Charlene’s only other piece of jewelry at the ceremony was her diamond engagement ring, which she wore in its traditional place on her left hand. The ring, made by Repossi, features a large pear-shaped diamond set in gray gold.
