The British Times reported that UEFA is expected to decide next week whether to suspend Israel from all European football competitions – and that there is a majority among Executive Committee members supporting exclusion. This means the Israeli national football team would be unable to participate in World Cup qualifiers, and Maccabi Tel Aviv would be expelled from the European League. The U.S. State Department confirmed it is working with FIFA to prevent Israel’s exclusion from the World Cup, which will be held in the United States this year.
