UPDATED with photos: Netflix has released a new trailer for Season 2 of Beef, the latest installment of Lee Sung Jin’s anthology series, starring Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, Charles Melton, Cailee Spaeny and Seoyeon Jang. You can watch the trailer above and see new first-look photos below.
Created by Lee, Season 2 begins with a Gen-Z couple witnessing an alarming fight between their Millennial boss and his wife. Newly-engaged Ashley Miller (Spaeny) and Austin Davis (Melton), both lower-level staff at a country club, become entangled in the unraveling marriage of their General Manager, Joshua Martín (Isaac), and his wife, Lindsay Crane-Martín (Mulligan). Through favors and coercion, both couples vie for the approval of the elitist club’s billionaire owner, Chairwoman Park (Youn Yuh-jung), who struggles to manage her own scandal involving her second husband, Doctor Kim (Song Kang-ho).
Cast also includes Mikaela Hoover as Ava and Matthew Kim as Woosh.
Lee serves as creator, showrunner and executive for the eight-episode Season 2. Jake Schreier, Steven Yeun, Ali Wong, Mulligan, Isaac, Melton, Spaeny, Anna Moench, Kitao Sakurai and Ethan Kuperberg also executive produce. A24 is the studio.
The first season of Beef, starring Steven Yeun and Ali Wong, premiered in 2023 and went on to win numerous awards, including eight Emmys, four Critics Choice Awards, three Golden Globe Awards, two Gotham Awards, two Film Independent Spirit Awards, two SAG Awards, as well as PGA, WGA and AFI Honors.
In the first season, Yeun and Wong played two strangers whose lives collide in a strange way after they’re involved in a road rage incident. The story was based off series creator Lee‘s personal experience with a road rage incident.
Season 2 premieres April 16 on Netflix.
