Ever wished you could keep your ChatGPT Voice mode conversations going on the road? Well, now you can. OpenAI has announced that ChatGPT Voice mode now works over Apple’s CarPlay, allowing you to chat with the AI assistant over your car’s audio system.

There are some small caveats, of course. You need to be running both the latest version of iOS, 26.4, and the newest version of the ChatGPT app. Also, as Engadget notes, ChatGPT can’t control any of your car’s functions; that’s still well within Siri’s realm of responsibility. You also can’t trigger ChatGPT with a wake word like you can with Siri. Instead, you have to select a conversation through the ChatGPT app to pick up where you left off.

It’s far from being a Siri replacement with all of those restrictions, but it’s nice to at least have another way to interact on the go if you’re a heavy ChatGPT user. Just be ready to tap your way to keeping the conversation going, and do so safely (preferably before you start driving or when parked).
