The days of weekly episodes often feel like a long time ago in the age of streaming, before some of the groundbreaking TV shows revolutionized the industry by introducing the binge-watching model that we are familiar with now. Both approaches have their merits, as some TV series are perfect for binging, and releasing the entire series at once allows this.
However, waiting for the next episode or season allows audiences to enjoy the suspense for longer, and can help new viewers avoid missing out on a show that they may not otherwise have discovered. Many of the best streaming platforms are reviving weekly TV, and anyone wondering what to watch on streaming should check out the best each platform has to offer right now.
Netflix
Bridgerton

The steamy historical romance drama Bridgerton is so good that it rewrote two genres at once. Based on the book series by Julia Quinn, Netflix’s adaptation is mostly faithful to the source material, while bringing the beauty and whimsy of each story to life. Each season covers one of the books, with season 5 telling the story of Francesca and Michaela.
Each season of Bridgerton focuses on one of the eight Bridgerton children and their budding romance.
Bridgerton is set in the fictional neighborhood of The Ton, which mostly follows the rules of Regency-era Britain, but lacks the prejudice and racism present in the history of the time, and takes creative risks with costume design. This has brought us a show with a diverse cast, storylines that any viewer can enjoy, with award-winning costumes that often make the show feel like a fantasy.
Fans of the show are already speculating about the identity of Bridgerton’s new Lady Whistledown, the mysterious gossip columnist who reports on the events in The Ton. While season 5 is officially in production, the release date has not yet been confirmed, giving new viewers plenty of time to binge-watch the series on Netflix before the next installment of gossip and romance.
Prime Video
Fallout

Video game adaptations are not always easy to get right, as the medium involves translating an evolving situation influenced by the player to a single story that cannot please everyone. That said, Prime Video’s Fallout has been hailed as one of the best video game TV adaptations of all time. This is partly because of Fallout’s unusual approach.
Instead of directly adapting a storyline from the Fallout video games, the TV show instead uses the tone and aesthetic from the games, combined with some of the most iconic character types, and uses these to tell an original story. The casting is one of the best in a sci-fi show, with Ella Purnell, Walton Goggins, and Aaron Moten all being praised for their performances.
According to showrunner Geneva Robertson-Dworet, Fallout season 3 will introduce long-awaited game elements, so it is possible that the series will grow closer to the games. However, you do not need to be familiar with the Fallout video game lore to enjoy the TV show adaptation. The third season is set to start filming in May 2026.
Apple TV
Severance

When it comes to genre, not all streaming platforms are created equally, and the sci-fi genre really highlights the differences between the different streaming services. Netflix has a habit of canceling promising sci-fi TV shows too early, leaving some spectacular but unfinished shows behind. However, Apple TV has become the best streaming platform for sci-fi fans to follow.
As Apple TV tends to give ambitious sci-fi TV shows more of a chance, this has resulted in masterpieces like Severance. The show is a dystopian drama in which people working for a mysterious and secretive corporation can surgically split their personalities, with a work persona and a home persona, each having no memory of the other. However, one employee starts to mistrust the company.
Apple TV has some excellent completed sci-fi series to binge, but fans of Severance will be excited to hear that the story is not over. Severance has been renewed for a third season, which is about to begin filming. After season 2’s explosive ending, which sees a character making a life-altering choice, Severance’s third season is certain to be its most mindblowing yet.
Hulu
The Bear

The comedy drama The Bear took Hulu by storm, becoming an unexpected success on an underrated streaming platform. Hulu has been described as “the best free streaming service you’re not using,” as it has often been overlooked in favor of giants like Netflix and Prime Video. However, there are some gems on Hulu, and The Bear has raised the standard for the platform.
There are currently four seasons of The Bear, with the fifth season confirmed to be the last. The show is about Carmy, a talented chef who returns to his hometown of Chicago to help out in his deceased brother’s sandwich shop. Having previously worked in Michelin-starred establishments, the show is part fish-out-of-water drama and part comedy as Carmy works to deal with his new situation.
While The Bear is not always true to life, it has regularly been praised for its realism by people in the restaurant business, and often gets the small details about working in a restaurant correct, including the stress of an opening night. The show has a 93% positive critics’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and the final season is in development.
HBO Max
The Pitt

Of all professions depicted in TV dramas, medics tend to be the most misrepresented of all time. While shows like ER, Casualty, and House are extremely popular, even the greatest medical dramas of all time are often unrealistic when it comes to representing working life in a real hospital. However, HBO Max’s The Pitt proved that this does not have to be the case.
Episodes of The Pitt unfold in real time, with each series taking place over the course of a single shift. While there are the expected dramatic moments, the show also depicts issues that are not often explored, like staff shortages and everyday chaos. This attention to detail has led to The Pitt being praised for its realism by medics and hospital staff.
The Pitt has a 97% positive critics’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Following season 2 of The Pitt setting up a drastic change in staff, the show has been renewed for season 3, with the creative team reportedly planning to keep the show on a consistent schedule. This commitment to both consistency and realism could set The Pitt up to rival and surpass other long-running medical dramas like Grey’s Anatomy.
Disney+
Daredevil: Born Again

Disney+ has hosted some groundbreaking shows that have changed their franchises for the better. While Andor is one of the best examples, another is Daredevil: Born Again, and Disney+’s top action thriller series keeps getting better. The MCU has often been criticized for its formulaic approach, but Daredevil: Born Again proves that even Marvel can benefit from a little grit.
The show features standout performances from Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock/Daredevil) and Vincent D’Onofrio (Wilson Fisk/Kingpin,) as the two enemies. Daredevil: Born Again is intense, and season 2 has improved its fight choreography, with season 3 certain to raise the stakes once more. Filming begins this year, and season 3 is reportedly set for a March 2027 release.

Landman

Taylor Sheridan has proven himself to be the king of the Western TV shows, as Yellowstone was just the beginning. Since this phenomenal directorial debut into the Western TV genre, he has expanded the world of Yellowstone while also branching out further into the Western genre. Landman is not connected to Yellowstone, but it is still one of Taylor Sheridan’s best TV shows.
Landman is a neo-Western series set in the West Texas oil boom, and follows Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton,) as he works as an oil company crisis executive. The tension between the workers and wealthy company owners often boils over, and the show’s drama includes fatal accidents, fights, and personal relationships against the backdrop of the oil fields.
Season 3 of Landman will arrive on Paramount+ in November 2026, with the main cast returning, and new faces likely too. The next series is almost certain to include at least one wedding, and there are major changes ahead for Tommy, who started his own oil company at the end of season 2. Time will tell if his expertise will translate to his own business.
