The trailer was just released for Alan Ritchson’s upcoming action thriller Runner, which sees the actor channeling his Prime Video character Jack Reacher.
As CinemaCon 2026 gets underway, the trailer for Runner has now made its debut at the theater trade show, giving moviegoers a first look at what to expect from Ritchson’s next film.
Runner centers on a former soldier who’s targeted by a cartel when he attempts to deliver a crucial and life-saving organ that will save a kid’s life. Time is not on his side as he realizes he needs to overcome a lot of obstacles in order to get the job done.
Check out the Runner trailer below:
The trailer begins with Owen Wilson’s character, Ben Bishop, delivering the organ to Ritchson’s Hank Malone and explaining that there is a “little girl that’s very sick, and you’re delivering her new liver.” He warns that if she doesn’t receive her new liver today, she won’t survive.
Some mysterious masked men pull up behind them as Hank asks how much an organ sells for on the black market, and Hank responds that it could be up to $1 million. The masked men surround Hank and Ben’s vehicle, with guns at the ready.
Hank speeds off as fast as he can to evade the criminals, and the rest of the trailer shows shot after shot of Ritchson in the middle of several fight scenes, car chases and explosions as his character does whatever he can to fend off the bad guys.
Later, on the phone, Hank talks to someone on the phone, presumably the little girl or her mother. “There’s nothing in the world that’s going to keep us from getting to you,” he declares. The trailer ends with Hank at the hospital, with his hand on the organ delivery case as he makes one final attempt to save the liver.
Ritchson and Wilson’s co-stars include Rodrigo Santoro, Leila George, Kate Box, Peta Sergeant, Geraldine Hakewill, Cecilia Toussaint and Scarlett Crabtree.
Runner is directed by Scott Waugh, who previously helmed Expend4bles. In a statement, the filmmaker, who’s partnering with Angel Studios, said that Runner is the type of film that “audiences have been waiting for—big action, real heart and a story that brings light into this world.”
Waugh added that the action thriller shows that “when everything’s on the line to save a life, real men don’t run from the fire; they drive straight into it.”
“Partnering with Angel is a game-changer, because Runner is the kind of theatrical film audiences have been waiting for – big action, real heart, and a story that brings light into this world. When everything’s on the line to save a life, real men don’t run from the fire; they drive straight into it.”
Ritchson is best known for playing the titular character in the Prime Video series Reacher, the small-screen adaptation of Lee Child’s bestselling book series that currently holds a nearly-perfect critic score of 96% on Rotten Tomatoes. After the third season was released in early 2025, filming for Reacher season 4 got underway later that year and is currently in post-production.
Ritchson’s other movie and TV credits include Smallville, Titans, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Fast X and War Machine, which is now streaming on Netflix.
Runner will be released in theaters on Friday, September 11, 2026.
