Earlier this week, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame rectified a glaring omission and announced that Iron Maiden would be inducted this year. It was long overdue, but for a long time, members of the band had said they didn’t want to be inducted and they wouldn’t attend the ceremony if they were.
Well, it turns out (surprise, surprise) that they won’t be there when Iron Maiden is inducted this year. Though it’s not because they’re actively choosing not to go, but rather it’s the fact that they’ll be touring halfway across the world at the time of the ceremony.
When the Rock Hall does its thing on November 14, Iron Maiden will be balls deep into the Australian leg of their world tour. Travel is costly and takes a long time when we’re talking Australia to California, so it only makes sense that they’d miss this event.
Iron Maiden manager Rod Smallwood explained the situation more in a prepared statement to Billboard:0
“As the most observant have already noticed, the band will be on tour in Australia around the November date of the induction ceremony for the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in Los Angeles.
“In accepting, Iron Maiden made it very clear to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame that the fans always come first and that the shows will, of course, go on.
“We would like to assure all our fans in Australasia that the Australian and New Zealand dates will remain unaffected, and we look forward to bringing the ‘Run For Your Lives’ tour to them on the penultimate stop of our 50th-anniversary celebrations.”
Since the band is scheduled to play Melbourne’s AAMI Park on November 13 and Sydney’s Allianz Stadium on November 15, there’s zero room for the flights to and from Cali. So they won’t be at the ceremony to be inducted alongside fellow the rest of the class of 2026: Phil Collins, Billy Idol, Oasis, Sade, Luther Vandross, Wu-Tang Clan and Joy Division/New Order.
You can catch Iron Maiden at any one of their tour dates listed below, just make sure to get your tickets today. You can also pick up some great Iron Maiden merch from our store, if you’re so inclined.
