The Fantastic Four‘s flashiest member debuts a brand-new look that resembles a famous anti-hero and former member of Marvel’s First Family. While the Avengers are composed of a wide variety of heroes, each with their own unique costume, and the X-Men have gradually distanced themselves from the original five’s yellow uniforms, the Fantastic Four have stayed loyal to their original look. The Fantastic Four’s iconic blue uniforms are a symbol of their union and shared sense of purpose.

The FF’s blue uniforms have switched their black sections for white ones, inverted their color scheme, flipped the blue for red, and left the original design behind for an all-white Future Foundation proposal. But all throughout their history, the Fantastic Four’s visual language has stayed consistent. Wherever one member goes, the others tend to follow.

Every once in a while, however, one of the Fantastic Four decides to stand apart from the team.

The Human Torch Debuts A Ghost Rider-Inspired Redesign Aided By The Invisible Woman

Fantastic Four #13; Written by Ryan North; Art by Andrea Sorrentino

Marvel officially unveils its July solicitations, which include a first glimpse at the upcoming Fantastic Four #13 and Fantastic Four #14. Issue #14 sees the Fantastic Four be infected by a mysterious virus that only leaves Jo and Nicki immune, while issue #13 centers on Johnny Storm and his idea to “settle some old scores” using bizarre methods. For the first time in Fantastic Four history, the Human Torch comes up with the idea to engulf his head in flames while Sue Storm turns his hair, skin, and flesh invisible, making him look like Ghost Rider.

Fantastic Four #13 focuses on the Human Torch and the Invisible Woman, and it presents a one-off story that may not have enduring consequences for the Storm siblings and the Fantastic Four. Still, Johnny’s wild idea to impersonate Ghost Rider may go off the rails in a spectacular way, and it might call unwanted attention that brings Johnny additional trouble. If any of the Ghost Riders get involved, Johnny may wish it’s Danny Ketch, who might be more forgiving given that Danny joined the Fantastic Four at one point.

The Invisible Woman’s Powers Are Criminally Underrated And Underused

Sue Storm’s Abilities Are So Overpowered She Has To Restrain Her Creativity

Susan Storm is both the heart of the Fantastic Four and the team’s most lethal asset due to her incredibly versatile superpowers. While her title emphasizes invisibility, the Invisible Woman’s true gift is the manipulation of a unique form of hyperspace energy that allows her to manifest near-indestructible force fields. Sue Storm could easily become the world’s most effective surgeon by turning specific dermal layers and muscle tissue invisible to examine internal injuries without a single incision. Conversely, she could lead enemies to their demise by rendering entire environments or hazardous obstacles invisible.

Fantastic Four’s New Appearance Introduces Permanent New Superpower for A-List Hero

In an intense new development, Marvel has confirmed a new power for Fantastic Four’s Invisible Woman, right as she joins the Avengers.

The darker, more overpowered applications of the Invisible Woman’s powers involve the internal manipulation of biological systems, a line she almost never crosses. With a mere flick of her fingers, Sue Storm could manifest a microscopic force field inside an enemy’s brain or heart to cause an instantaneous aneurysm or cardiac arrest. Sue can collapse lungs by creating vacuum-sealed bubbles around them or to sever vital arteries by expanding razor-thin force-discs within the circulatory system. In the comics, she has even demonstrated the ability to blind opponents by making their retinas or optic nerves invisible.

These cheat codes exist constantly at Sue’s fingertips, but she restrains her creativity to maintain the moral boundary between being a hero and a cold-blooded executioner. The Invisible Woman understands the psychological cost of her powers would fundamentally change her, potentially leading her back to the dark path of her Malice persona. Still, it’s a pleasant surprise to see Sue Storm find new ways to use her abilities sixty-five years after her comic book introduction.

What’s the most creative way the Fantastic Four haven’t used their powers?
