Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir dedicated the greater part of his speech to senior army commanders on Monday to serious disciplinary problems that have emerged in the military. Zamir told the commanders that fatigue among combat units after two and half years years of war on multiple fronts cannot justify the incidents that have been reported recently. He reflected mainly on widespread looting in Lebanon, the destruction of a Jesus statue in the village of Debel and the ubiquitous wearing of patches with political messages.
