A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms season 2 appears to be on the way as a behind-the-scenes video revealed the transformation of one of its stars.

HBO’s A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is based on the Tales of Dunk and Egg books by George R.R. Martin, which follow the journey of Ser Duncan the Tall, also known as Dunk (Peter Claffey), an inexperienced hedge knight, and his squire Egg (Dexter Sol Ansell), who is secretly Prince Aegon Targaryen. The show is set around 90 years before the events of Game of Thrones. The series shows the duo as they travel across Westeros.

A post on actor Sol Ansell’s official Instagram account showed him preparing to reprise his role as Egg. In the first look video, the actor can be seen shaving his head before shooting begins for A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms season 2.

The behind-the-scenes clip sparked excitement among fans because this is a sign that filming for A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms season 2 is underway. While HBO has not officially released a full production timeline for the second chapter of the hit show, the new footage implies that the process is moving along fairly quickly.

While Game of Thrones and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms exist in the same universe, the two shows are very different. The former is a very dramatic series that focuses on politics, power struggles, wars, and shifting alliances. It has a massive ensemble cast, including flashy elements such as dragons and White Walkers. The visual and practical effects were also incredibly intricate. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, on the other hand, is much more personal and character-driven than the flagship show. It mainly focuses on the journey of Dunk and Egg, as they travel through Westeros.

HBO renewed A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms for a second season in November 2025, before the series even aired on January 18, 2026. The follow-up will use content from Martin’s The Sworn Sword and continue the story of Dunk and Egg. Production on the new season reportedly began in late 2025, and the studio is aiming for a 2027 release window.

There is currently no official release date for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms at the time of this article’s publication. However, HBO is planning on releasing the show in 2027.
