Follow Mail Sport’s live blog on the final day of the 2025 Ryder Cup on the Black Course of Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale, New York.

RESULT: Lowry A/S Henley

The dam did not break for Europe, despite the swell of momentum from the Americans late in the proceedings.

Henley had a roughly 10 foot putt to keep his 1-up lead that stopped half a foot short of the hole.

Lowry’s ball was on roughly the same line and the Irishman knocked it in with ease to keep the Ryder Cup on the east side of the Atlantic.

History made! Europe have weathered a late oncoming storm at Bethpage and won the Ryder Cup.

From Friday morning to Sunday afternoon, the blue machine never relented and now they’re reaping the rewards in Long Island.

Rory led. Rahm roared. Fitzpatrick found a way. Europe’s big names delivered – while America couldn’t overcome their early struggles despite a furious Sunday effort.

In front of a hostile New York crowd, this may go down as one of the most emphatic away wins in Ryder Cup history.

The Cup is heading back across the Atlantic.

It’s really starting to feel like the Americans could do the impossible.

There’s still plenty that needs to break the way of Team USA, but all the momentum is with the Americans right now.

Spaun banks the whole point and Henley is 1up in his match at the moment.

The Americans need Morikawa, Burns, and Griffin to all start taking leads to put the pressure on.

Could Team USA make history?

The largest final-day comeback in Ryder Cup history came in 1999 at The Country Club, Brookline.

The US trailed Europe by four points before storming back to win 14.5-13.5, stunning their rivals and creating one of golf’s most famous moments.

Today’s deficit was even bigger and it’s a credit to Team USA’s stars that the competition is still ongoing. This should’ve been settled hours ago.

RESULT: Scheffler beats McIlroy 1UP

Scottie Scheffler triumphs over Rory McIlroy in the day’s most anticipated match-up.

In truth, neither men played their best golf but Scheffler won’t care. He’s helped his team move one step closer to a historic comeback.

McIlroy, meanwhile, will likely be disheartened after his spirited effort in the face of jeers, beers and lewd chants at Bethpage Black.

Europe are within touching distance!

After a flurry of results coming in, Europe are just half a point away.

However, the US are leading in four of the six games that are remaining. Hojgaard vs Griffin and Hatton vs Morikawa remain level.

You really can’t take your eyes of this…

Result: DeChambeau A/S Fitzpatrick

Fitzpatrick stormed into the lead in the first nine before DeChambeau launched a stunning comeback and nearly won it at the end.

The American will be upset that he left it so late but can be proud with his performance on the back nine. Inspirational stuff.

RESULT: Aberg beats Cantlay 2&1

He beats Cantlay 2&1 – meaning Europe need just one point.

McIlroy and Scheffler on the 18th

This is it. The heavyweight match-up is reaching it’s climax.

Scheffler is up by one and has just hit his driver down the center fairway, while McIlroy ends up in the bunker after cutting through it.

It looks as though this is Scheffler’s to lose…

RESULT: Schauffele beats Rahm 4&3

What a fantastic performance from Xander Schauffele.

He wipes the floor with Spain’s Jon Rahm and rounds it off on the 15th.

The Americans are showing absolutely no sign of slowing up.

What a moment for Justin Thomas and Team USA.

Everyone has been counting them out but these players are doing all they can to rewrite the script. It’s admirable, it really is.

Result: Justin Thomas beats Tommy Fleetwood 1UP

This is incredible. Team USA have not given up hope and, if anything, are taking control of proceedings now.

This time, it’s Justin Thomas who sends the crowd mental. He keeps his cool and putts for birdie – much like Cameron Young.

The score is now 12-8 to Europe – but this is getting close.

Fitzpatrick feeling the heat

We’re over at the 17th and DeChambeau is turning up the pressure!

He’s now level with Fitzpatrick on the final hole after some questionable play from the Team Europe star on the 17th.

His putt for birdie is well short and he can’t get it to land with the follow-up. DeChambeau was already charging to the 18th, fist pumping and all.

Fleetwood and Thomas head to the 18th

Meanwhile, Fleetwood and Thomas are level as they head to the 18th.

The Team Europe star hits an absolute beauty off the tee – before Thomas quickly followed suit. This could go either way.

Result: Cam Young beats Justin Rose 1UP

Cameron Young claims the first match!

He keeps his composure on the 18th at Bethpage and putts for birdie.

That will mean everything to the rookie – even if the US do fall to defeat here in Long Island. A terrific display from the 28-year-old.

Justin Rose did all he could to comeback but Young held strong.

Things are heating up…

This is what the Ryder Cup is all about.

Even after Europe’s dominance over the weekend, as we approach the end of Sunday’s singles, the tension at Bethpage Black is palpable.

Team USA haven’t given up by any means and their stars are still swinging – despite Europe’s best efforts to keep them at bay.

Rory McIlroy produces a magical putt on the 15th but, just moments later, Scheffler repeats the feat and maintains his one-point lead.

Rose and Young head to the 18th

Justin Rose just had the opportunity to keep his winning run going but came up just short with his putt – which was cheered by the home crowd.

They head into the 18th hole level.

He couldn’t… could he?

Bryson DeChambeau is giving this a real go.

He’s won his third hole in a row and this time it’s a muted celebration.

It means that Matt Fitzpatrick is now just 1UP. This would be some bottle job, if he were to end up drawing against his American counterpart.

Rose is on a roll!

Justin Rose completes his comeback and is now level with Cam Young.

A tremendous showing on the back nine from the veteran, who has somehow clawed this back from 3DN.

Rory could wrap this up…

As it stands, Rory McIlroy could have the chance to win the Ryder Cup.

With Cam Young leading against Justin Rose, Tommy Fleetwood and Justin Thomas A/S and Matt Fitzpatrick leading DeChambeau – the Northern Irishman can win the competition if he beats Scheffler.

What a story that would be after all the chants, jeers and beers that he’s faced throughout the weekend.

However, he’s absolutely fluffed his lines on the 14th and now Scheffler is back in the lead. Still plenty to play for.

Schauffele birdies on the 12th

Xander Schauffele has really found his form.

That’s three holes won on the bounce for the American and this time he does it with a tremendous birdie.

You feel as though there’s no way back for Rahm at this point.

DeChambeau is fired up!

Bryson DeChambeau has not played his best golf by any means.

However, his role is USA cheerleader cannot be questioned. After winning the 14th, so pumps a fist and charges to the next hole.

He doesn’t have much real estate but there is a – very slim – chance that claws it back. Let’s see if he can do it.

Squeaky toy saga

We have an update on the ‘squeaky toys’ that have caused disruption.

Earlier, we reported that the toys were being handed out for free as part of a specific drink at Bethpage Black.

Fans were using them to put off Europe’s stars – including Rory McIlroy who took issue over the matter with security officials.

Well, our man at Bethpage Black, Dan Matthews, has an update:

Just asked the question and Ryder Cup say those drinks are not being sold anymore (and haven’t been for a bit) and that they’re on the lookout for the toys and any they hear/find are being taken away.Fitzpatrick keeping DeChambeau at bay

It’s getting tense in this match. DeChambeau is doing all he can to cut the deficit but Fitzpatrick is doing well to keep him at bay.

The American is on the green in two but still can’t win the hole – mainly thanks to some more terrific approach play from Fitzpatrick.

He’s one step closer to sealing a huge win for Team Europe.

Rose and Fleetwood apply the pressure

Tommy Fleetwood puts the pressure on Justin Thomas with a stunning putt on the 13th.

Thomas steps up for his own putt… and sends it wide! He looked nervy as he stepped up for that and now the scores are level.

Meanwhile, on the 14th hole, Justin Rose sinks a stunning 12-foot putt, as all eyes turn to Cam Young. And from seven-foot, he also fires wide.

The American is just 1UP after a spirited fight back from Rose. This is getting interesting…

Rose from deep

Justin Rose has defied the odds with that shot.

After landing beyond a rope boundary and being forced to drop on some paving stones on the road – the Englishman recovers in fine fashion.

He lands within six feet of the hole and triumphantly makes his way back up to the green. And rightly so. That was sensational.

Fitzpatrick fires back

Moments after DeChambeau birdied and let out a huge roar towards the crowd, Fitzpatrick follows suit.

However, instead of hyping up the crowd, he opts for a ‘Calma’ celebration. I’m sure that’s rattled a few American fans at Bethpage.

‘A lifeline for DeChambeau’

The American remains 1UP so far but could have been further ahead, had he been able to sink his five-foot par for birdie.

Breaking:Rory McIlroy confronts fans over bizarre item at Bethpage Black

McIlroy furiously confronted more American Ryder Cup fans on Sunday, after they used squeaky rubber ducks in a desperate bid to put him off.

The Team Europe superstar has clashed with the rowdy locals across all three days of the tournament, with the anger reaching boiling point on Saturday when he screamed ‘f*** you’ at multiple fans on the 18th green.

But the frustrations continued into Sunday – and in bizarre fashion – after he was continuously put off by the use of a small plastic toy.

McIlroy comes up short

That is agonizingly close for McIlroy. His putt for bogey stops just short of the hole – much to the pleasure of the fans watching on nearby.

Scheffler, meanwhile, also missed his par putt but sank his effort for a bogey – giving him the lead in this one.

Morikawa finding form

Colin Morikawa is heating up! The American goes 1UP against Tyrrell Hatton after a superb 17-foot putt on the fifth.

Hatton had an opportunity to keep it level but missed his 20-foot putt.

Meanwhile, it’s A/S between Sam Burns and Robert MacIntyre, as well as Xander Schauffele and Jon Rahm.

Fitzpatrick fights back

The momentum swings once again.

This time, it’s Fitzpatrick who asserts himself. After a storming run from DeChambeau in the previous three holes, the Brit has fought back.

After chipping in from the rough, he pulls off a solid putt to apply the pressure. However, DeChambeau is able to match him.

Morikawa pulls even

Over on the fourth, Colin Morikawa putts for an eagle and levels the score in his match against Tyrrell Hatton.

He did get somewhat lucky after Hatton narrowly missed his own eagle putt. On to the fifth hole!

A/S between McIlroy and Scheffler

There’s still nothing to separate McIlroy and Scheffler after nine holes.

The American missed a glorious opportunity for the lead with a seven-foot putt for a birdie on the ninth – before McIlroy also sinks it for par.

Plenty to play for as they head into the back nine.

Thomas cuts the deficit

Justin Thomas has started the back nine as he means to go on.

The American wins the tenth hole with a simple par after Tommy Fleetwood sent his approach shot past the hole and ended with a bogey.

Bryson DeChambeau was 5DN, then 4DN, and now it’s only 3DN!

A huge putt from the big-hitting American to send the crowd wild on 9. Hammer down as he heads to the back nine…

Schauffele shocker

From 2UP to A/S in two quick holes for Xander Schauffele, who has surrendered his lead to Spaniard Jon Rahm.

The LIV star has been in incredible form at Bethpage – one of Europe’s top scorers – and he won’t be letting this one go without a fight.

Europe now lead in five matches, USA lead in two, and four are level.

And a dropped shot for Straka too…

JJ Spaun moves in on his European opponent at the fourth, with Straka bogeying and the American taking advantage.

That leaves Straka now 1UP, and there’s plenty of games right in the balance.

Rose drops a shot

Trouble for Justin Rose on the 10th, already 1DN against New York native Cam Young.

He found the bunker with his third shot, but has just managed to stick it close with his fourth. It’ll be a bogey, and Young has two putts from the fringe to win the hole.

The first misses by inches, and it’s a tap-in par. The American goes 2UP.

There’s no shortage of star power at Bethpage today – and it’s not just on the tee sheet.

Jimmy Fallon and Nate Bargatze, two of the biggest names in comedy, were spotted in the stands together on Sunday .

Fallon, a Long Island native, looked right at home among the raucous New York crowd, while Bargatze soaked in the atmosphere.

The seventh match of the day is in full swing and it’s Europe’s Straka who is 2UP through three holes. His putting game has been on fire.

Cam Young goes 1UP on Rose

Cameron Young may be a Ryder Cup rookie but he’s playing like a veteran out on Bethpage Black today.

The American, on the seventh hole, moves 1UP against Justin Rose after the Team Europe star sent his putt six-feet past the hole.

It was a huge opportunity for Young and he made no mistake.

Meanwhile, Matt Fitzpatrick is now 4UP on Bryson DeChambeau.

On an afternoon – and weekend – where very little is going right for Team USA, this certainly gave the home crowd something to cheer about.

Things are going from bad to worse for Bryson.

Fitzpatrick seems unnerved by DeChambeau’s impressive drives and is making up for it with his own stunning approach shots.

Bryson can’t match it – his second shot drifts into the front-left bunker. He plays a solid recovery to five feet… but it’s not enough.

Fitzpatrick pours in the birdie putt to go 3UP through five – and the American fan favorite is getting steamrolled so far.

Thomas eagles on the sixth

Justin Thomas – take a bow! The American cuts the lead down to one with a stunning eagle on the sixth.

His approach shot ends up bouncing into the hole, much to the delight of the roaring USA fans at Bethpage Black.

That might be the shot of the weekend.

Will it count for anything though? Probably not.

Match 8 set to begin

As things begin to heat up, the eighth match of the day is set to begin with Russell Henley and Shane Lowry at the tee box.

Meanwhile, Tommy Fleetwood has maintained his lead over Justin Thomas after both men settled for par on the fifth.

It’s all square between Young and Rose through the seventh. The Englishman missed a crucial putt to give his rival a route back in.

‘DeChambeau looking flat’

It’s fair to say that this has been a week to forget for Scottie Scheffler.

The world no. 1 is 0-4 at this year’s Ryder Cup and it doesn’t look like his fortunes will be changing anytime soon after struggling on the second.

McIlroy meanwhile, despite the ongoing jeers from the crowd, kept his cool to drain a 20-foot putt for birdie to take the lead.

Bryson DeShambles

Perhaps that’s harsh but Bryson DeChambeau made a real mess of that.

The USA star bogeys on the third after missing from close range. His 10-foot putt was completely overhit and left him with too much to do.

Fitzpatrick, on the other hand, played a superb bunker shot to secure par on the hole. He’s now 2UP thru 3.

Europe draw first blood…

Captain’s Luke Donald and Keegan Bradley just shared a final handshake on the makeshift bridge between the clubhouse and the first tee. The grandstand here was full by 9:45am on Sunday, more than two hours before the first tee shot was fired.A man carrying two American flags just sprinted out on to the first tee and down the hill towards the crowd. The grass looks very wet but thankfully he managed to keep his footing. It would have rather summed up this American performance had he taken a tumbleLuke Donald arriving in style…

His decisions have been precise and his demeanor steady amid one of the most chaotic Ryder Cups in recent memory.

More fan chaos on the cards?

Ryder Cup crowds are famously partisan. That’s the deal. But this year’s crowd at Bethpage Black has raised eyebrows – and blood pressure.

Booing during backswings. Personal heckles. Chants aimed at caddies. Even the occasional beer tossed in the direction of a WAG.

It’s been electric, yes – but borderline toxic at times. The New York crowd came to play… and they didn’t bring golf claps.

Amid Team USA’s abysmal showing this year, eyes are already turning to 2027 – and Phil Mickelson has officially ruled himself out of the picture.

In response to a post from Lee Westwood on X – ‘Hey Phil Mickelson fancy Adare Manor 2027?’ – Mickelson replied bluntly:

“No rumors. My Ryder Cup involvement is over. I’m happy being a spectator and rooting for Team USA.”
