Prime Video has released its last teaser for the final episode of The Boys, which has been long-awaited, highly anticipated, and nerve-wracking for longtime fans of the dark superhero series. Butcher (played by Karl Urban) is shown heavily in the trailer with his voice-over stating, “We need to end the whole bloody notion of Supes.” Ryan (played by Cameron Crovetti) is finally shown in what appears to be an emotional reunion with his biological father, Homelander (played by Antony Starr).
The final face-off appears to be honoring the original comics, as Butcher and his gang infiltrate the White House with Kimiko, hopefully having unlocked Soldier Boy’s powers and the supe virus in hand, the potential to destroy Homelander has officially become a major possibility. However, after the death of Frenchie, Kimiko could prove to be a liability over the loss, or getting revenge on the person who destroyed her future could be the ultimate ending.
It’s unclear if Gen V characters such as Marie will take part in the final battle, as they weren’t seen in the trailer. Showrunner Eric Kripke stated that the characters wouldn’t have a definitive conclusion as the news of its cancellation shocked him, and the series finale wasn’t made with the knowledge that this would be the last opportunity to see the Godolkin kids.
Another missing player is Jensen Ackles’ character, Soldier Boy, who Kripke confirmed won’t be in the final episode when he stated, “Knowing that that was going to be Jensen’s last scene in the series, we wanted to put in one last reference,” in an interview. His last scene was featured in season 5, episode 7 of The Boys, as Homelander places him into his cryo chamber yet again.
