Samsung’s RegiStar app for Galaxy smartphones and tablets, which is a module for the brand’s Good Lock app, lets people double-tap on their phone’s back to perform a certain action, such as going back, taking a screenshot, and accessing a voice assistant. Well, the brand is working on integrating this feature into One UI with One UI 8.5.

Android Authority has discovered a line of code in Samsung’s upcoming Android 16-based One UI 8.5 that mentions the term ‘Double Back Tap.’ Its description reads ‘Gently tap the back of the phone twice while the screen is on.’ It suggests that the brand is working on adding the double back-tap feature to One UI 8.5. That’s not all.

The firmware also had a list of actions that One UI 8.5 can perform when people tap on their phone’s back two times consecutively. Below are the things it can do:

With that, Samsung mobile users will not have to install the RegiStar app to customise their phone to perform a certain action when they double-tap on the back of their device.
