Hugh Jackman is reportedly upset after Nicole Kidman appeared to side with his ex-wife, Deborra-lee Furness, following their divorce, according to a new report from an Australian magazine.
The Academy Award winner seemingly failed to acknowledge Jackman at May’s Met Gala, which he attended with his new love, Tony-winning Broadway star Sutton Foster, Wonderwall.com can report.
‘He is hurt and puzzled’
After filing for divorce, Deborra-lee Furness issued a statement reflecting on the “breakdown of an almost three-decade marriage” to Hugh Jackman and navigating the “traumatic journey of betrayal.” By: MEGA
The Wolverine actor and the Moulin Rouge! actress are longtime pals as well as former co-stars who shared top billing in the 2008 Baz Luhrmann film Australia.
According to New Idea, Jackman is upset Kidman has seemingly sacrificed their friendship in order to maintain closer ties with Furness, who finalized her divorce from the Greatest Showman actor a year ago following their 2023 split after 27 years of marriage.
“He is hurt and puzzled. Nicole was a co-chair at the Met Gala and didn’t seem to greet Hugh and Sutton,” a source told the magazine. “They weren’t photographed together and there’s little evidence that they even spoke. It’s very strange considering they go way back.”
A long friendship

However, the source added that Kidman had been friends with Furness for even longer than she’s known Jackman, with the women co-starring in the 1987 Australian movie The Bit Part, so it was no surprise that the Babygirl actress’ loyalty would be to Furness.
The source added, “Hugh is beginning to think Nicole is ‘Team Deb’ since their split, which could explain why she has seemingly publicly distanced herself from him lately. Maybe the trust has gone?”
The fracture follows reports that Kidman has been bonding with Furness as the two quietly lean on each other through the aftermath of their very public marriage breakdowns. Kidman split from her husband of 19 years, country music star Keith Urban, in 2025.

When Kidman’s marriage crumbled last year, she leaned heavily on her strongest friendships to help her through the darkest of times — and she reportedly wants to make sure Furness has the same kind of support.
“Nicole’s loyalty has to be with Deb as she’s been a shoulder for her many times throughout the past three years,” an insider told Woman’s Day, another Australian magazine.
According to the publication, “The long-time friends have formed their own first wives club.” (Nicole also endured a split from first husband Tom Cruise in 2001.)
An insider also told author Rob Shuter‘s Naughty But Nice Substack column that “Nicole is firmly Team Deb.” The insider added that Kidman “believes Deb was deeply hurt by how everything unfolded, and Nicole isn’t interested in pretending otherwise just because Hugh showed up with a new woman on his arm.”
Furness’ unexpected request

Jackman and Foster were reportedly left “blindsided” by a request from Furness, who allegedly asked to meet with the couple to “clear the air” after she was deeply hurt by their increasingly public romance.
The insider told New Idea, “This isn’t about Deb being angry or wanting to read Sutton the riot act. It’s about closure.”
The insider further claimed New York City was always Furness’ “territory” over the years, and seeing Jackman and Foster showing off their new love around town has been a sore spot.
“Watching Hugh and Sutton parade around the city, openly flaunting their romance and mingling with all the same people they used to socialize with as a couple, is incredibly painful and humiliating,” the insider said. “It might be easier to take if Hugh and Sutton weren’t constantly all over each other.”
