The first batch of the royal cancer treatment drug Imcranib 100 has been delivered to the Government Pharmaceutical Organization (GPO).
The drug will soon be distributed to hospitals nationwide, expanding access to advanced cancer treatment for patients under Thailand’s Universal Coverage Scheme.
Deputy government spokeswoman Ploytalay Laksmeesangchan said the initiative stems from the royal benevolence of Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Krom Phra Srisavangavadhana, president of the Chulabhorn Royal Academy.
In celebration of her birthday on July 4, Princess Chulabhorn has donated 690,000 tablets of Imcranib 100, a targeted cancer therapy, to the National Health Security Office (NHSO) under the “Cancer Treatment Drug Project in Honour of Her Royal Highness’s 69th Birthday”.
Ms Ploytalay said on Tuesday the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Center under the Chulabhorn Royal Academy completed production and delivered the first batch of the drug to the GPO’s central distribution facility, which serves as the NHSO’s primary drug distribution hub.
All storage and transportation processes are being conducted in accordance with Good Distribution Practice (GDP) standards.
Quality, safety, and effectiveness of the medication will be maintained until it reaches patients.
The GPO will now oversee nationwide distribution to healthcare facilities and hospitals in line with the NHSO’s allocation plan.
Patients covered by the universal healthcare system have equitable access to modern cancer treatments regardless of their financial circumstances, according to the deputy spokeswoman.
