WWE appears to be spoiling Paris in its return to France, as today’s “WWE Raw” — on Monday, June 8 — at the Accor Arena sees both Intercontinental titles defended. The King and Queen of the Ring tournament opening matches continue on the show as well.
It’s a surprising full-match lineup announced early for this week, with the mid-card taking center stage. After picking up wins in recent weeks, Rey Mysterio is set to challenge for Intercontinental gold against his fellow luchador, Penta. On the women’s side of the equation, Sol Ruca makes her first defense of her title when she battles the inaugural Women’s Intercontinental Champion, Lyra Valkyria.

Similar to this past Friday on “SmackDown,” the King of the Ring quarterfinal match seems poised to close the show. Seth Rollins appears to be the clear favorite to win, especially after rumored reports indicate that WWE wants to push him back into a title match against one of his many best frenemies, Roman Reigns.
The Queen of the Ring match on “Raw” will be an interesting one, as that tournament is clearly centered around The Judgment Day. Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan is competing to avoid defending her title, which means first getting through Alexa Bliss, Chelsea Green and recently dethroned Intercontinental titlist, Becky Lynch.

Mysterio accepts the apology before telling Gable to look back even further than his Americano gimmick. Interesting. We’re getting deep now with Gable. There has to be more to this, as he’s been in his ring gear all night.

Uso tells Knight to stay in his lane and quit talking about their family. He says he doesn’t need luck in their match, and fires off a “warning shot.” That’s all he had to say. Well, alright.
But Knight cuts the music and gets back on the mic. Lovely. Knight says he’s misunderstood. He gets the passion and protectiveness. He says it’s how Uso should be. He wishes him good luck, and from the bottom of his heart, “Screw your family.” That was not what I expected, but hilarious.
Jey takes his shirt off and heads back towards the ring until Jimmy restrains him.

Knight immediately says Reigns is pulling the wool over peoples’ eyes. The empire is on the verge of crumbling, he says. Trapping us in The Bloodline vortex. OK. Knight is officially the WWE meta-character, saying what everyone is thinking.
Knight says he is the chief. Let’s say he wins the KOTR, he ponders. He expects every Bloodline member — ever — to arrive and try and take him out. God, the guy is on fire with this promo.
He shouts at Adam Pearce, making him feel like a modern-day Stone Cold, upset at authority favoring others. Knight claims to be “Unchosen,” but the people chose him, and he chose himself. He says he doesn’t know how to quit, and wishes everyone luck for their match on Friday.

LA Knight is here, right after The Bloodline teased some potential problems with him. The fact that he’s getting TV time in the ring still feels like a good sign. Lyra halts a Ruca springboard move, finding a diving leg drop and spinning heel kick mid-ring. Ruca kicks out. That was a full-on RVD sequence. Lyra goes for a Tornado DDT, and Ruca cartwheels out! Lyra does the same to the subsequent X-Factor attempt! Lyra catches a Sol Snatcher with an Electric Chair position counter. She adjusts for a Nightwing as Ruca works her way out and falls into a pin. She kicks out, and Lyra gets caught in the rope after a missed kick to take a Sol Snatcher! A successful defense from the champ! A good, clean match.

After the return from the commercial, they both go down from a double Clothesline. They start trading strikes, leading to uppercuts. Nice back elbows land for Ruca before a clean German Suplex out of the corner. She goes up high to nail a nasty missile drop kick. A running knee drops Lyra, but she kicks out.

They start the action with some fun technical work until Valkyria finds a clean springboard arm drag. They show off their athleticism until Ruca finds an X-Factor. Valkyria kicks out to roll out of the ring. Ruca wanted a dive, but ran into a brief Samoan Drop position. They work toward the corner, and Ruca springboards into a Northern Lights position. Lyra launches her up and over the ropes.

Gable is back again after SmackDown! He has the singlet on when confronting Penta! He says he met up with his brother on Friday, which is true. He circled back to how it started from losing to Penta back when the latter debuted. He apologized to Penta and received a good round of applause. Penta says he respects the apology. Then, if he wants to do right by Lucha Libre, he knows who he has to talk to, Penta says.
Well, that came right after a big Penta-Mysterio vignette, so presumably, it’s him.
