Early Literacy Alert! Every child in San Joaquin County from birth to age 5 can now receive a free book every month through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library!

Previously, only families in Stockton and Lodi were eligible, but with additional support from United Way of San Joaquin County, the rest of the county is now eligible too.

The partnership is between the United Way of San Joaquin County and Read to Me, Stockton!, which first connected with the Imagination Library 14 years ago and has since brought nearly 1 million books to the county.

Volunteers, educators, and other supporters celebrated the expansion at a kickoff breakfast at the Great Wolf Lodge in Manteca, alongside San Joaquin County Superintendent of Schools Dr. Troy Brown, United Way President/CEO Kristen Spracher-Birtwhistle, and Read to Me, Stockton! President Ann Johnston.
