It’s not just grand state occasions which encourage the royals to pull out their best black tie outfits – as Lady Gabriella Windsor proved with aplomb when she made an appearance at the 25th annual Foundation Gala at the Plaza Hotel in New York. The daughter of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent wowed onlookers in her sea-green, spaghetti strap gown, which she teamed with minimal hair and makeup and a simple pair of earrings in a show of understated yet high-octane glamour.

Lady Gabriella beamed as she posed for pictures at the event which, held to raise funds for the Brazil Foundation, welcomed more than 400 guests to the esteemed hotel. As co-chair of the foundation alongside the likes of Andrea Dellal and Izabel Olson, the royal has supported the charity – which promotes equity, socio-environmental justice and opportunity in Brazil – for over 20 years.

A keen traveller, Gabriella studied for a degree in Comparative Literature at Brown University for four years, travelled across the Middle East for six months and worked in Colombia, Argentina and Brazil for over two years in her twenties, teaching English in Rio de Janeiro and producing music events in Buenos Aires. She then worked at a PR, trade and communications agency company specialising in Latin America, and remains a board director of the Playing for Change Foundation, a global music and arts education non-profit.

It was no surprise, therefore, that she helped to host the Brazil Foundation’s gala, for which she wore a shimmering, turquoise gown by Brazilian brand, PatBo, founded by designer Patricia Bonaldi. Featuring fine straps and an eye-catching floral corsage, it was the perfect fit for Lady Gabriella, who matched her dress with nude heels, diamond-and-gold earrings and understated hair and make-up. The royal was pictured on the night with the designer herself, who wore a gold, fringed skirt and a sleek black top for the event.
