While celebrating a century is considered extremely rare in humans, living a century is just an episode for various species within the animal kingdom. From the giant whale living under the polar ice to the turtle outliving generations of humans, life within nature has produced species with incredible longevity.

For many years, scientists have been intrigued by these animals as studies may hold valuable information about longevity, disease resistance, and survival. While most animals tend to have shorter lifespans of just a few years, there are others which have the ability to live for over 150, 200 or even a few hundreds of years.
