LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) — Hill City Pharmacy, a familiar and affordable pharmacy in the area, is closing all three of its retail locations in the city.
A move that has left some customers worried about what they may pay for medications.
In a statement, the company said that starting July 7, it will transfer patient prescription records to nearby CVS pharmacies.
Some customers said they still have questions about what the change will mean, particularly when it comes to cost.
“I’m really worried for the next steps. And not just for me but for everybody in this community. This is a great facility that has helped everybody in this area,” Brianna Falwell said.
“Not sure what the future looks like for it. Which is a little bit terrifying,” Falwell added.
Falwell said her $30 prescription could possibly change to $300.

Hill City Pharmacy said its Greenview Drive location will remain open under a new name to serve long-term care patients.
The company said it is working to make the transition as smooth as possible and prevent any interruptions in care.

ABC13 asked why the retail locations are closing. Hill City Pharmacy said it cannot provide an answer at this time.
