257 female officers sent a letter to IDF Chief of Staff Maj. Gen. Eyal Zamir, Defense Minister Israel Katz and his ministry’s director-general, against the backdrop of “the anti-women wave against female combat soldiers and women in the IDF.” In the letter, they wrote that “surrendering to external pressures is a security abandonment. We demand rejection of the rabbis’ letters and exclusion of women in the military and warn of damage to state security. Stop the madness immediately. Female combat soldiers are not a subject for discussion or a problem to be curbed, but an established operational fact and a strategic asset. The apology for our presence has ended.” Among the signatories: six brigadier generals, seven colonels and 28 lieutenant colonels.
