Meyers aired a brutal supercut of Trump who — prior to his first term — said that a shutdown would be a “tremendously negative mark” on former President Barack Obama and that the “pressure” is on anyone in the Oval Office to be a “leader” and work out a deal.

“With Congress, you have to get everybody in a room and you have to get them to agree. … You have to get people, grab ’em, hug ’em, kiss ’em and get the deal done,” said Trump at a GOP presidential debate in February 2016.

Meyers swiftly poked fun at the president’s negotiation strategy.

“If Trump started grabbing, hugging and kissing [Senate Minority Leader] Chuck Schumer and [House Minority Leader] Hakeem Jeffries, I think they’d agree to anything just to get the hell out of there,” he quipped.

Meyers declared that Trump is “obsessed” with hugging whenever he talks about negotiations before tossing to a clip of the president discussing the U.S.-brokered peace deal between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

“We were hugging each other and holding hands, it was an amazing thing,” said Trump of his Oval Office meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

Meyers joked, “I’m assuming every time Don Jr. and Eric hear him talk like this they say, ‘Where the fuck was my hug?’”
