Fiona Shaw (Bad Sisters, Killing Eve) has been tapped as a series regular in the upcoming second season of the Apple TV+‘s legal thriller Presumed Innocent. She joins lead Rachel Brosnahan and fellow series regulars Matthew Rhys, Jack Reynor and Courtney B. Vance.

The anthology series’ second installment is inspired by Dissection of a Murder, the debut legal thriller novel by Jo Murray. It centers on an Leila (Brosnahan), an ambitious defense attorney who takes on a high-profile case. Vance plays Leila’s boss at the law firm; Shaw plays a partner at the firm and Leila’s second chair; Rhys plays Leila’s husband, the prosecutor on the case; and Reynor plays her client, the defendant.

Led by Jake Gyllenhaal, Season 1, inspired by Scott Turow’s courtroom thriller of the same name, ranked as the most watched drama on Apple TV+ at the time of its 2024 release.

Presumed Innocent hails from Bad Robot Productions and David E. Kelley Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. David E. Kelley serves as showrunner on season two alongside Erica Lipez. Abrams and Rachel Rusch Rich executive produce for Bad Robot. Kelley executive produces through David E. Kelley Productions alongside Matthew Tinker and Lipez. Dustin Thomason also serves as executive producer. In addition to starring, Brosnahan executive produces. Season 1 star Gyllenhaal executive produces under his Nine Stories banner. Turow and Jo Murray, author of Dissection of a Murder, co-executive produce.

Season 1 of Presumed Innocent landed four Emmy Award nominations, including Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for Gyllenhaal; Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for Bill Camp; Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for Peter Sarsgaard; and, Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie: Ruth Negga.

It also introduced Chase Infiniti in her screen acting debut. Following her breakout series regular role on Presumed Innocent, Infiniti was cast as a lead in Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another opposite Leonardo DiCaprio and Benicio del Toro.

Shaw earned a BAFTA TV Award and two Emmy nominations for Killing Eve. She won an Emmy for her guest starring role on Fleabag. Known for her role in the Harry Potter movie franchise, Shaw was recently seen in the Apple TV+ film Echo Valley and the streamer’s series Bad Sisters as well as HBO’s True Detective: Night Country. Her upcoming projects include the new Sense and Sensibility movie and the Prime Video series Anansi Boys.
