Iran’s chief negotiator, Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, said Wednesday that the “era of bullying and extortion is over” and that Iran does not “fold” in the face of military action.
Qalibaf made the comments in a post on X, hours after the U.S. launched what it called retaliatory strikes on 80 targets across Iran and revoked a license allowing the country to sell oil after three tankers were hit by projectiles in the Strait of Hormuz, putting pressure on an already fragile cease-fire.
Qalibaf accused the U.S. and Israel of major violations of the recently signed war-ending memorandum of understanding (MoU). He specifically cited U.S. strikes on southern Iran, the reinstatement of oil sanctions, threats of further strikes and American violations of “Iranian adjustments” in the Strait of Hormuz as direct breaches of the agreement.
Qalibaf also pointed to continued Israeli aggression in Lebanon as an MoU violation, warning that Iran will not proceed with further peace negotiations until the initial terms of the framework are fully honored.
