UNIFIL, the UN “peacekeeping” force in southern Lebanon, condemned Israel for “an attack by the Israeli army, which yesterday dropped bombs near our forces operating alongside the Lebanese army to protect civilian workers in the village of Maroun al-Ras, who were clearing war debris.” The statement added that this constitutes a serious violation of Security Council Resolution 1701.
