Northeast Georgia Health System has adopted artificial intelligence solutions that enable physicians to spend more time with patients and less time in front of screens.

NGHS said in a press release that they have trained nearly 480 clinicians to use DAX Copilot during the enterprise deployment.

Now integrated into Dragon Copilot, the DAX Copilot tools have been embedded within Epic’s electronic health record system, used by NGHS, to automatically capture conversations between patients and caregivers and generate a draft note directly within Epic.

“We are finding solutions like this are decreasing the cognitive burden and time constraints on our colleagues and making their work lives easier,” Matthew Zimmie, MD, MSHI, chief medical informatics officer for NGHS, said. “That’s a win for everyone, because we believe less-stressed clinicians leads to better work-life balance, higher engagement and improved care for patients.”

In August, NGHS launched Wave 2 of Epic’s early-adopter program for ambient orders, aiming to simplify and enhance clinician workflows.

“We have the tools to give clinicians more time with their patients and more control over their day,” President and CEO of NGHS Matt Hanley, MD, said. “It’s how we’re working to retain and recruit the best and brightest people to improve the health of our community in all we do.”
