If you’re in the mood for a steamy romance, good news: Amazon Prime has you covered with The Last Sunrise, a new romantic drama movie based on the Anna Todd book of the same name. (If you love the After movies, this book is from the same author who wrote the books for that film series.)
Directed by Carlson Young, with a screenplay written by Anna Klassen, The Last Sunrise stars Maia Reficco as Oriah “Ry” Pera, a teenage girl dealing with epilepsy. She’s told by her doctor that there is a surgery that might cure her, but it comes with the risk of losing all her memories. Ry declines to have the surgery, and instead promises to be good about taking her medication every few hours, even though the meds make her feel numb.
Ry takes a trip with her mother, Isolde (played by Eva Longoria) to the Spanish island of Majorca, where Isolde grew up. There, Ry meets a charming young Spanish hottie named Julian (Fernando Lindez), and the sparks are immediate—even if Julian has some judgy things to say about Ry being an American tourist.

The Last Sunrise will be released on streaming on Wednesday, August 26, 2026 on Amazon Prime Video. The movie will be free to all Amazon Prime subscribers.
What time does The Last Sunrise come out on Amazon Prime?
The Last Sunrise will begin streaming on Prime Video at 12 a.m. Pacific Time, or 3 a.m. Eastern Time, early in the morning of Wednesday, August 26. This is according to the landing page for the movie on Prime Video, which says the movie is “coming soon – August 26, 3:00 AM.” An Amazon rep confirmed to Decider that this meant 3 a.m. Eastern Time.
So, if you’re on the West Coast in the U.S., you can watch The Last Sunrise movie as early as midnight on Tuesday night.
In the past, some Prime Video movie release time is 12 a.m. GMT, or Greenwich Mean Time, on the morning of the release date, meaning viewers in North America were able to watch titles the evening before the release date. However, that does not seem to be the case for The Last Sunrise.
