The Mississippi Book Festival is quickly approaching, and it will kick off with a new partnership.

The Mississippi Book Festival unites readers and authors in a celebration of books.

Tuesday, Atmos Energy announced a $10,000 sponsorship supporting a children’s literacy program at the festival.

The partnership combines literacy, imagination and hands-on learning through two initiatives: a special Curious George 85th Birthday Celebration on Festival day and a future Turn the Page program at a school within Atmos Energy’s Mississippi service territory.

The Mississippi Book Festival is scheduled Saturday, Sept. 26, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in and around the Mississippi State Capitol.

Among those scheduled to attend as official panelists are actress and No. 1 New York Times bestselling author Kate McKinnon. She will talk about her book “The Millicent Quibb: School of Etiquette for Young Ladies of Mad Science.”

Grammy Award-winning rapper, songwriter and entrepreneur Rick Ross is also slated as one of the festival panelists. He has made the top of the New York Times list with his memoir “Hurricanes” and “The Perfect Day to Boss Up.”

Ross will be talking about his new book “Renaissance of a Boss: Notes from a Creative Reawakening.”
