Morris Dancer (pictured) and Maho Bay aim for a first Group-race victory in the Winter Hill Stakes at Windsor, UK, on Monday, 7 September.
Palace Pier colt Morris Dancer went down by a short-head to subsequent G1 winner Zavateri in the G2 Vintage Stakes at Glorious Goodwood last year before posting an easy four-length success in Salisbury’s Stonehenge Stakes.
Third on his seasonal return in the G3 Jersey Stakes, the John & Thady Gosden-trained three-year-old failed to give his running when backing up quickly in the Listed Sir Henry Cecil Stakes at Newmarket’s July Festival.
Maho Bay also ran well at this year’s Royal Ascot as he finished a close fifth after meeting trouble in running in the G3 Hampton Court Stakes.
Trained by Charlie Appleby, the Dubawi colt posted decisive wins at Kempton Park and Newmarket on his first two starts prior to coming home fourth in the Listed Lingfield Derby Trial.
Charlie Appleby said: “Maho Bay has done well for a nice break and conditions at Windsor should be fine as he coped with quick ground at Royal Ascot. He has a bit to find with a couple on ratings but I think he can be a big player.”
