Data published by the House of Commons Library examined estimates for health conditions including diabetes, asthma, depression and high blood pressure.
Estimates are based on analysis of 2024/25 data from England’s GP practices published by NHS Digital.
The data revealed that Carlisle has one of the highest rates of adults diagnosed with depression, at 21.74 per cent, while the North West region as a whole had a 17.9 per cent estimated prevalence of the condition.
England had a 14.3 per cent overall prevalence of depression among citizens.
Carlisle ranked sixth in the top 10 parliamentary constituencies with the highest prevalence of depression.
It followed Birkenhead, Blackpool South, Wallasey, Blackpool North and Fleetwood, and Knowsley.
