Unbeaten filly Musical Times bids to go one place better than her dam with victory in the G2 May Hill Stakes at Doncaster, UK, on Thursday, 10 September.
Dubai Fountain filled the runner-up spot in the mile contest six years ago as part of a fruitful juvenile campaign that saw the half-sister to Real World finish second in the G3 Sweet Solera Stakes, third in the G3 Solario Stakes and fourth in the G1 Fillies’ Mile.
Musical Times steps up to Pattern company on the back of two novice wins over seven furlongs, with the Charlie Appleby-trained daughter of Lope de Vega having followed up a neck success at Newmarket in June with an easy victory at Yarmouth in early July.
Charlie Appleby said: “It was always the plan to give Musical Times a break following her win at Yarmouth and she has done nicely for it. She is taking in some more experienced rivals here but the step up to a mile shouldn’t be an issue and I am hopeful that she can continue her progression.”
