Selena Gomez knows that the heart wants what it wants.
And what the “Good For You” singer wants is a growing family. After all, she teased what she hopes her future with husband Benny Blanco will look like.
Gomez shared a photo of herself on her Instagram Stories—wearing jean shorts and a cream vest—playing with a baby lying beside her on a couch. Alongside the Sept. 7 post, she wrote with a teary-eyed and a thought bubble emoji, “One day..”
Although the 34-year-old is ready to love on as a mom in her future, the couple’s family planning will require additional steps due to her ongoing battle with lupus.
“I haven’t ever said this,” Gomez—who was diagnosed with the autoimmune disease in 2013—told Vanity Fair in October 2024, “but I unfortunately can’t carry my own children. I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby’s in jeopardy. That was something I had to grieve for a while.”

However, Gomez is grateful that there are alternatives available for her and Blanco.
“It’s not necessarily the way I envisioned it,” she admitted. “I thought it would happen the way it happens for everyone. [But] I’m in a much better place with that. I find it a blessing that there are wonderful people willing to do surrogacy or adoption, which are both huge possibilities for me.”
“I’m excited for what that journey will look like, but it’ll look a little different,” she noted. “At the end of the day, I don’t care. It’ll be mine. It’ll be my baby.”
While the couple is still embracing the early chapters of their marriage, Gomez does have experience with little ones under her belt.
In fact, she previously shared a glimpse into her loving relationship with younger sister Gracie Teefey, with whom she has a 20-year age gap.
“I will forever let my sister know she is strong, bold, and beautiful,” the Only Murders in the Building star wrote on Instagram in 2017. “She will be raised to know her voice matters. She is going to understand the importance behind being a leader and inspire others by her truth.”

Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco began dating in July 2023, around Selena’s birthday, Benny said on the Howard Stern Show in May 2024.
But they only began to spark romance rumors in late 2023. That December, Selena confirmed the speculation, commenting on a fan page’s Instagram post, regarding Benny, “He is my absolute everything in my heart.”
She continued, “Why has he been the best thing that’s ever happened to me. He’s still better than anyone I’ve ever been with.”
The Rare Beauty founder also shared a photo on her Instagram Story of her leaning her head on what looked to be Benny’s chest.
