Modern Wealth Management, an acquisitive registered investment advisor co-founded by former United Capital executives, has acquired Sanchez Wealth Management Group, a Jacksonville, Fla.-based RIA with $710 million in client assets. The firm was previously affiliated with LPL Financial for the last 26 years.
This represents Modern Wealth’s fifth deal this year and third acquisition in Florida in the last five months.
Sanchez Wealth was founded by Christen “Chris” Sanchez in 2000. He’s joined by Wealth Advisor Dawn Nicoles (his sister), Wealth Advisor Josh Mandelkorn, Client Service Associate Alexandria Sanchez (his daughter), Client Service Associate Lindsey Hall and Director of Operations Jennifer Koeller.
“For me, this isn’t about stepping away; it’s quite the opposite,” Chris Sanchez said in a statement. “Modern has already built much of the technology, infrastructure and support that would have taken us years to develop on our own, and that allows our team to focus our energy where it matters most.”
The deal builds on Modern Wealth’s Florida presence, following its acquisitions of Legacy Wealth Management in South Florida and Flaherty Asset Management in Clearwater and the Greater Tampa Bay area. Both of those teams were also former LPL affiliates.
Modern Wealth has completed 23 acquisitions since its founding in 2023, bringing its total assets to more than $15 billion. Modern Wealth was created in 2023 by three Goldman Sachs executives, co-CEOs Gary Roth and Mike Capelle and President Jason Gordo, with $200 million from private-equity investor Crestview Partners.
