From laughing lions to penguins with attitude, ten years of Comedy Wildlife Photography is brought to life in a new immersive experience in London this autumn
Wildlife photography is usually associated with majestic landscapes, rare encounters and moments of quiet drama. But nature has a funny side, too. This autumn, new immersive art experience Frameless is turning the spotlight on some of its most unexpected stars, celebrating a decade of the Nikon Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards.
Opening on 12 September, the experience brings together 91 of the competition’s funniest and most memorable images, projected at full scale. The photographs are arranged across seven natural habitats, taking visitors from shorelines and forests to grasslands, with spatial sound adding breaking waves, rustling landscapes and other ambient sounds to the journey.
For ten years, the Nikon Comedy Wildlife Awards have used humour as a way of encouraging people to look differently at the natural world and to consider why biodiversity conservation matters. The resulting photographs capture wildlife at its most wonderfully awkward, surprising and relatable, from a laughing dormouse to a happy turtle.
