Pamela Des Barres, the author and former groupie, will release a recording of a song that she originally wrote for Jimmy Page in 1970.

Des Barres has recorded “Come In From The Storm”, a song she originally wrote for Page in January 1970.

The song, recorded by Des Barres with Genie Morrow and Sputnik the Band, will be released on September 25.

“‘Come Into the Storm’ [sic] is a song I wrote after I let my heart break over Jimmy Page, and it feels pretty incredible to finally bring it to life all these years later. We were so young,” Des Barres wrote on Instagram.

“A huge thank you to my dear friend Genie Morrow and Sputnik the Band. The band released their own version this summer, and then they brought me into the studio to record this new version together,” she continued.

Des Barres published the lyrics of the song in her 1987 book “I’m with the Band: Confessions of a Groupie”. In a diary entry dated January 4, 1970 in the book, Des Barres wrote: “I wrote a love song for Jimmy Page with a Burrito twang.”

Des Barres again referenced the song in a typewritten letter she included for sales of a 1922 Gibson L1 acoustic guitar played by Jimmy Page and Robert Plant that she previously owned.

“I did write a couple of GTO’s songs on it, and a weepy ballad for Mr. Page called ‘Come In from the Storm, Come Inside’,” Des Barres wrote in the auction letters.

In an Instagram post published earlier this year, Des Barres explained: “I wrote this song in early 1970 when I heard through the groupie tom-toms that my adored Jimmy Page had found someone new to love in London. And on his birthday yet! I hoped, prayed and wailed that it wasn’t true. I truly hoped that the people were lyin’, and I put it to music. So thrilled and honored that Genie Morrow & Sputnik the Band have given my youthful broken heart this groovy update!”
