On Friday, 10th October, Dr Lydia Abela will be leading ‘Nitkellem’ at Fort St Elmo, a festival dedicated to mental health and wellbeing, coinciding with World Mental Health Day.

The historic venue will be transformed into a hub of serenity, with a full-day programme that encourages reflection, open conversations, and practical tools to support better mental health.

From 9am, students will embark on an interactive journey, turning thoughts and emotions into words, sounds, and stories.

Informal discussions will follow, focusing on how relationships, art and culture.

At 2pm, a talk in collaboration with Dar Kenn Għal Saħħtek will explore how good food can play a vital role in supporting mental health, highlighting the impact our diet has on overall wellbeing.

At 3pm, swimmer Neil Agius will lead a special breathwork session.

At 5pm, the National Conference on Mental Health and Wellbeing will bring together professionals, experts, and activists to share experiences and ideas for the way forward.

The day will conclude with an evening concert, Kelma Kelma Nota Nota’s ‘Tesaġerax! Riċetta għal Ħajja Aħjar’, an original production delivering a powerful message for a more resilient society.

All proceeds will go to the Richmond Foundation.

‘Nitkellem’ is more than a festival, it’s a collective effort to break stigma, encourage compassion, and make mental health a priority.
